Until 2012, the training of officers for reconnaissance units had carried out at Army Academy named after hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi. Due to the efforts of high-professional command and teaching staff, the pleiad of officers-scouts was trained in educational institution; nowadays the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all Ukrainian people are proud of them.

A counterterrorist operation became a principal test for present generation of scouts; it has been continuing nowadays on the East of Ukraine. In the course of counterterrorist operation, ex-cadets of Academy have been demonstrating professionalism and loyalty to the defence of Ukraine. Their heroic deeds were repetedly honoured by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In whole, from the beginning of counterterrorist operation more than 20 alumni of Academy mainly scouts and paratroopers were awarded with the state decorations.

Unfortunately, in the course of performing of combat missions on liberation of Ukraine from terrorists, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has sustained casualties.

In order to honour the alive and fallen Heroes who studied at the Academy, who took part and have been performing missions within the framework of counterterrorist operation and to educate a current generation of cadets in educational institution, cultural and educational, and educational events are held constantly at Army Academy. In addition, on Academy’s leadership’s initiative, the exhibition dedicated to the participation of alumni of the Academy at counterterrorist operation was created at the Museum of history and modernity of Academy. Officers and cadets as well as their family’s members have an opportunity to know about the heroic deeds of officers-alumni of the Army Academy named after hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi.
